The Ministry of Industry and Trade provides information on Vietnamese goods taking advantage of EVFTA preferences
The EVFTA free trade agreement comes into force from August 1, 2020, creating great opportunities for Vietnam's exports, helping to diversify export markets and commodities, especially, Vietnam's strong export products have high tax cuts such as agricultural products, seafood, furniture, textiles, footwear, electronics ...With EVFTA, goods originating from Vietnam will improve their competitive advantage over goods originating from competitors in the EU market. The fact that the data of issuing Certificate of Origin (C/O) of EUR.1 form since the EVFTA comes into effect shows the level of interest of enterprises as well as the importance of this market for exports of Vietnam.
Within a month from August 1, 2020 to August 31, 2020, the authorized organizations issued more than 7,200 sets of C/O samples EUR.1 with a turnover of US $ 277 million to 28 EU countries. The items that have been granted C/O form EUR.1 are mainly footwear, seafood, plastic and plastic products, coffee, textiles, bags, suitcases, vegetables, rattan, bamboo, knitting products, ... Most import markets are countries with ports and distribution and transshipment centers of the EU such as Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, France and the UK. In particular, many shipments have arrived on the EU market, cleared customs and enjoyed preferential treatment.
Faced with concerns of some exporters that the background color on the C / O is not green, it may affect the preferential tariff treatment for goods exported to some EU markets, The Ministry of Industry and Trade immediately discussed with the EU focal point on this issue. On August 31, 2020, the EU side gave their feedback, accordingly, the EU accepted the C / O with the current background color as the sample that Vietnam announced to the EU. This is also being notified by the EU to the customs authorities of member countries to ensure that the C / O in the current form that the issuers of Vietnam issue C / O to the business will not be denied benefits tariff treatment.
In the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to accompany enterprises, implement activities to support enterprises to take advantage of EVFTA, disseminate and train in-depth on rules of origin, research and modernization of the Certificate of Origin (C / O), applying the self-certification of origin mechanism, etc ... at the same time, closely coordinated with the EU to promptly resolve problems arising in the implementation of the Agreement.
In case enterprises need more information on the implementation of the Rules of Origin, they are requested to contact the Import-Export Department directly
